When it comes to wedding celebrations that feel as heartfelt as they are stunning, Lauren and Solomon’s wedding at the First Colony Inn is a perfect example. Rooted in meaningful tradition while rewriting the rules, this couple created a day that was undeniably their own — blending Solomon’s Jewish heritage with Lauren’s Outer Banks upbringing into a celebration full of joy, love, and jaw-dropping spring florals.
From the start, it was clear that Lauren and Solomon weren’t interested in following a cookie-cutter script. Instead, they chose to prioritize what felt authentic to them, drawing inspiration from their backgrounds and relationship. One of the most memorable moments of the day? The couple walked down two separate aisles at the same time, symbolizing their equal partnership. Guests didn’t just witness this moment — they sang the couple down the aisle, creating a communal, deeply emotional experience that will be remembered forever.
Solomon wore a crisp white suit and a kippah, with a boutonnière that echoed the wild, garden-inspired blooms carried by Lauren. The floral design — a whimsical explosion of peonies, ranunculus, garden roses, and seasonal spring blooms — was a vibrant focal point throughout the day. It added softness, color, and romance to every moment, from the bouquet to the ceremony space to the reception tables.
The ceremony seating, arranged in graceful curves on the lush lawn of the historic inn, invited a sense of intimacy and connection. Overhead, the ocean breeze whispered through the trees, grounding the celebration in the natural beauty of the Outer Banks — a special nod to Lauren’s roots having grown up on the beach.
“We wanted our community to be integral to our wedding, which often took the form of music. (Solomon and I met in college doing musical theater.) We had some friends teach all our guests a brief melody prior to the ceremony, and then all our guests sang us down the aisle. We also had friends perform our first dance song (written by a band we’re friends with) and our hora (celebratory Jewish dance) had a musical ensemble of 12 friends and family members. For our Sheva brechot (or Seven Blessings, a part of the Jewish wedding ceremony), we had different loved ones read each blessing, in Hebrew and English (so 14 people total!). It was a little chaotic but so special to have so many people bless us and be a part of our ritual. Solomon’s childhood rabbi, who officiated our ceremony, helped us craft our ceremony and fit all the pieces together,” said the bride.
The reception tent was pure magic: paper lanterns in pastel shades floated above tables set with elegant place settings, blush-toned glassware, and sweet floral arrangements that echoed the bouquet’s vibrant palette. It was a joyful, fresh expression of spring — the perfect backdrop for a night filled with laughter, dancing, and heartfelt toasts.
The entire space radiated warmth, reflecting the couple’s desire to create a gathering that felt more like a meaningful party with loved ones than a traditional affair.
From dual aisles to communal singing, from florals bursting with personality to thoughtful and fun design choices, this wedding was a beautiful reminder that the most memorable celebrations come from the heart.
