A Colorful Farewell to Summer: Frances & Zackary’s Hatteras Island Wedding

On the very last day of summer, Frances and Zackary brought together their closest friends and family on the shores of Hatteras Island for a wedding celebration that was anything but boring! Blending timeless elegance with a vibrant, playful twist, the couple reimagined the black-tie dress code, encouraging guests to arrive in bright colors and bold bowties.

Frances, radiant in a flowing ivory gown, walked down the aisle to meet Zackary, who wore a classic tux elevated with a touch of personal flair. Their wedding party was a vision in pale blue satin and cheerful florals, creating a dreamy contrast to the natural backdrop of water and sky. Pops of fuchsia, blush, and greenery in the bouquets added energy and color—perfectly capturing the fun-meets-formal vibe of the day.

“All of our little details were thoughtfully picked to match our personalities while keeping true to the colorful black tie theme. A great example is our duck cake toppers on our vintage inspired funfetti cake. We also got married on the “twenty first night of September”, so we made sure to play into the song and have “September” details throughout the day, including song lyrics on our cups!” said the bride.

Following the ceremony, guests gathered under a light-draped tent for an al fresco reception overlooking the sound. White linens, garden-fresh centerpieces, and a delicate canopy of greenery brought a fresh, coastal feel to the tablescape. It was the kind of setting that made you want to linger long after the sun had set.

The combination of heartfelt moments, radiant style, and pure celebration made this wedding not just a highlight of the summer for guests, but a memory that will warm everyone’s hearts for years to come.

This wedding is featured in the 2025 issue of Outer Banks Weddings magazine.
