From the Couple...

How He Asked: "Despite living on Hatteras Island, Danielle had never climbed the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse before, but had talked about it frequently. Aaron arrange a climb to the top of the lighthouse on early evening where he proposed once they arrived to the top."

Why They Chose the Outer Banks: "We both live and met on Hatteras Island, so it seemed like the perfect place to have our special day to share with our friends and family from near far. There's no place like home!"

Weddings Inspiration: "We wanted to incorporate all things on Hatteras Island that are special to us. The Inn on Pamlico Sound is where Aaron took me on our first day and we couldn't have imagined having our wedding anywhere else. Danielle's mother was a huge part of the wedding planning and spent a year planning every detail to perfection."

Favorite Wedding Memory: "One of our favorite wedding day memories is being able to get away after the ceremony. Just the two of us with Kate and Daniel Pullen to take pictures at the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse where we had gotten engaged."

2016 Outer Banks Bride Magazine: Sea Glass Sweethearts

Allowing the ocean to be their inspiration, Lauren and Tyler chose a color palette that mirrored its brilliant hues, from light shades of sea foam to rich hues of teal. Renee Landry Events added pops of pink to Lauren's bouquet and created white calla lily bouquets for the bridesmaids that matched the beach-styled reception tablescapes. Basnight Photography captured all of the details of this modern destination wedding at Koru Village & Spa, featured in the 2016 Outer Banks Bride Magazine. We are over-the-moon to share this gallery of ready-to-pick inspiration for your Outer Banks wedding!

From the Couple:

How He Asked: "Tyler knew he wanted to propose somewhere special to he and Lauren, and since they've been going to the Outer Banks with their families for years, he knew that was the perfect place. On the first night of their vacation in Avon, they went for walk walk on the beach and when they reached the Avon Pier, Tyler popped the question!"

Why They Chose the Outer Banks: "We've been coming to the Outer Banks with our families for vacation for years, and since Tyler proposed there, there was no question that we wanted to get married in Avon too!"

Wedding Inspiration: "Our decor was all beach themed! The color palette included ocean tones, and the wedding style was beach chic. We wanted our wedding to reflect the surrounding of the venue."

Favorite Wedding Memory: "Our first dance. It was one off the only times during the evening when we were able to have a conversation, just the two of us, without people running up to congratulate us! As strange as it was to be the only two people dancing in a room full of people, for those few minutes, it felt like it was just us."

2016 Outer Banks Bride Magazine: Gilded Elegance

If you think planning a wedding in three months means you'll sacrifice elegance, personalized touches and style, then Caroline and Brian's grande affair will be a game changer! Due to her father's illness, the two moved the wedding one year earlier than scheduled and designed a day that was the epitome of the "best day ever" in three months. Renee Landry Events confettied their Pavilion at Pirate's Cove reception in blush blooms, with black and white stripes contrasting against gilded details to embellish the large venue. Lori Douglas Photography captured all the raw love and magic that surrounded the entire day, and we're bursting with excitement to share more from their 2016 Outer Banks Bride Magazine feature!

From the Couple...

How He Asked: "The engagement was a complete surprise, although he had been planning it for months! Brian had always teased me that the day he would pop the question would be July 4, 2015. On Sunday, November 2, 2014 we decied to go on an early morning cruise down. It was freezing and windy that morning, but he insisted on getting out of the truck and going on a walk. Out of nowhere, he turned to me and said, "Do you know what today is?" And then, he paused briefly and said "Today is July 4, 2015." Before I knew what was happening, he had gotten down on one knee and asked me to marry him! I was in complete shock at what was happening, and didn't even say anything at first...he had to ask me again!"

Why They Chose the Outer Banks: "Caroline was born and raised in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina!"

Wedding Inspiration: "The design inspiration was Kate Spade inspired! Our theme was black and white - specifically black and white stripes with touches of gold glitter and sequins and blush-colored floral arrangements. We wanted a more classic look and feel for our wedding. On a side note on inspiration, our wedding was planned in three months! We found out in April that my father, Lou, was diagnosed with cancer so we moved the wedding up a year, August 2016 to July 2015. Lou's ultimate goal during his battle with cancer was to walk me down the aisle, and if possible, the father-daughter dance would be the icing on the cake. He did both!"

Favorite Wedding Memories: "My father reaching his goals of walking me down the aisle and our father-daughter dance. Also, seeing the venue for the first time when Brian and I were introduced. My mom was the mastermind behind the design and planning, so everything was a complete surprise for Brian and I!"

2016 Outer Banks Bride Magazine: First Colony Fête

Enchanted by the Outer Banks' for its allure of island simplicity, Kristin and Justin, along with To Have and To Hold OBX, designed a First Colony Inn around a sea-glass motif unlike any other. Bells & Whistles brought this vision to life with a natural, coastal oasis of oyster shells, driftwood, succulents and soft blooms. With the one and only Genevieve Stewart Photography and Swell Productions capturing every romantic moment, this is a destination fairy-tale we can't stop swooning over!

View more from Kristin and Justin's wedding, receive Outer Banks wedding inspiration and receive our in-demand vendor directory by reserving your complimentary copy of the 2016 Outer Banks Bride Magazine.

From the Couple...

How They Met: "We met in the Summer of 2009 at a brewery in Historic Downtown Wilmington. Justin was the bartender and I was a part of their promotional team. Although I don't remember there being much interaction between us at work, we did get to spend sometime together when we were out with mutual friends. Neither of us were eager for anything serious as we both recently ended long-term relationships, but after a Summer of fun with friends and getting to know each other, we decided it was ridiculous to keep putting off the inevitable. We are so similar, yet so different in many ways. We've made each other laugh every day for six years, and luckily we have enough material to keep those laughs going for a lifetime!"

Why They Chose the Outer Banks: "Justin and his mother moved to Kill Devil Hills in 1996 where she married her husband who was a native to the Outer Banks. He has so many memories on the Outer Banks and he couldn't wait to bring me back to his hometown. The first time he brought me home to meet his parents, I remember being in awe of the adorable Nags Head beach front homes and the simplicity of the island. Living in Wilmington, a quaint beach town of its own, we had everything we needed here to plan a wedding, but we knew that wasn't what we wanted. We love the way the Outer Banks makes us feel, and wanted our wedding guests to feel that too. It is a magical place that now holds our hearts."

Wedding Inspiration: "Sea glass. We didn't initially have a color palate of theme in mind when planning our wedding, but when we started picking our floral and decorations we decided on blues, greens, grays and browns. When we put them all together we soon realized that they resembled a handful of sea glass and our wedding grew from there. We didn't want bright colors and sea horses, we wanted soft colors and oyster shells. Using those ideas, we designed a relaxed, coastal wedding that was everything we envisioned and more!"

Favorite Wedding Memory: "Our venue met all of our wedding weekend needs. The First Colony Inn was large enough for our wedding party and immediate family members to spend the weekend with us. We hosted a barbecue welcome reception Friday night and were able to have breakfast with our family and friends all weekend. It was so special to have everyone close to us during our big day."

2016 Outer Banks Bride Magazine: Aquatic Affair

When it came to planning this nautical-themed wedding, the rustic ambiance of the Hilton Garden Inn's Kitty Hawk Pier was the perfect venue to host Lauren and Hunter's aquatic affair.  Our favorite part of their darling wedding was the "message in a bottle" toss during their pier ceremony, officiated by Rev. Jay Bowman! Using the love letters exchanged that morning, they placed the letters in a bottle and tossed it into the ocean during the ceremony. With Kristi Midgette Photography capturing all of the unique, memorable moments of this Outer Banks Bride Magazine feature wedding, we're unlocking more steal-worthy details of this Outer Banks destination wedding.

From the Couple...

How He Asked: "Hunter proposed at a vineyard in Louisa, Virginia. We were out celebrating my birthday and the completion of my teaching license. The next thing I knew, the music stopped and Hunter was down on one knee with a diamond ring tied to a wine glass! In a tasting room full of family and friends, he asked me to marry him."

Why They Chose the Outer Banks: "Hunter and I always dream of having a beach wedding. We visited the Outer Banks and feel in love with its beauty. We both love to fish, so deciding to get married on the pier was perfect for us! We love the rustic feel of Kitty Hawk Pier and knew right away that was the place we were meant to start our forever."

Wedding Inspiration: "We wanted to incorporate a navy and white striped nautical theme, but keep it elegant and classic at the same time. It was all about the details when it came down to planning. I wanted everything to be absolutely breathtaking, and it was!"

Favorite Wedding Memory: "We chose to incorporate a message in a bottle as part of our ceremony. Hunter and I exchanged letters to each other the morning of our wedding, delivered by Hunter's best man. We read each others letters and put them inside the bottle afters to send off to sea. We threw this bottle off the pier into the waves as part of our ceremony. It was a beautiful moment and we can't wait for someone to find that bottle someday!"

2016 Outer Banks Bride Magazine: Coastfully Wed

With a ceremony by the sound and country club reception at The Currituck Club to day-after photo session with ColemanShots by the ocean, Taylor and John's coastal affair took us on a journey across the Outer Banks. Oozing natural, garden glamour with splashes of green and gold, this wedding is the definition of lovely. From the Couple...

How The Met: "We met while working together at a sailing center in Corolla in the summer of 2011. John had moved from South Carolina and took a job as the sailing center's Site Manager and Taylor just graduated college in Virginia and took a Summer job there renting out water-sport equipment. We became friends through working together and made our romantic relationship official that September - we also decided to make  our move to the Outer Banks a permanent one!"

Why They Chose the Outer Banks: "We met here and live here!"

Wedding Inspiration: "We wanted our wedding to be everything that is simple, natural beauty - something we feel encompasses our relationship as a whole. The most important thing to us was to be able to get married in a place that had significant meaning to both of us, and that we could always come back to visit and even bring our keys one day. Our wedding quickly turned into an earthy, very natural, garden glam style."

Favorite Wedding Memory: "Our top favorite memory is our first look! Once we saw each other for the first time, every nerve we had went away and it was just the most emotional, flawless moment for us that we will never forget."

Digital Wunderland - Capturing Real Moments in Reel Time

Have you ever been driving down the road, and a song comes on that brings you back to a moment in time? In an instant, you are transported back, and suddenly you remember everything about that time but mostly, you remember the emotions of that moment, no matter how much time has passed.

While images capture and preserve a moment, videos capture the action and the emotion in real time. Those tears you shed when he professed his love, promising to cherish you for the rest of his life, are not just captured in a single still. Instead, you can watch them fall, years in the future experiencing the same raw emotion and excitement year after year always returning to that sacred moment in time.

Chris and Lauren's wedding 4-21-12 from Digital Wunderland on Vimeo.

Joe Cheshire - owner and executive director at Digital Wunderland an award winning production company based here on the Outer Banks - has been filming weddings for nearly a decade and prides himself on meeting the needs of each individual couple.

Each wedding video I create is unique. A bride will not get a cookie cutter video from me because I carefully tailor each video to meet the couple s personal vision. I pride myself on capturing all their special moments throughout the day, and producing a one-of-a-kind video they can treasure the rest of their lives.

Often times, when a bride evaluates her budget only to realize she needs to cut back she opts to forgo the videographer, instead selecting just a photographer. While budgets are an important part of wedding planning, and should be followed as tightly as possible, it s important to acknowledge the long term value of your wedding splurges. The ability to preserve a monumental event in one s life can not be undervalued, and a wedding video affords the happy couple the luxury of playing back their big day, and experiencing all the special moments and emotion experienced.

Digital Wunderland understands that selecting both a videographer and a photographer can push the limits of a bride s budget, so it s important to not only meet but exceed expectations.

I have traveled the world both studying from and creating films with the world s best independent film makers. I have learned to document moments without being in the way or making others feel uncomfortable.

Digital Wunderland 2012 Wedding Video Demo from Digital Wunderland on Vimeo.

In the moment, it is easy for a bride to assume she will always remember her wedding, and all its details, just as clearly as the day it happened. Unfortunately, the day flies by leaving many intimate moments overlooked and details forgotten and what isn t captured, time tends to erase as the years pass. However, by capturing these intimate moments in video, a couple can enjoy their wedding day time and time again a treasure their kids and grandkids can also enjoy.

For more information on the options available, and how Joe can turn your vision into a reel filled with your day s special moments, contact Digital Wunderland.
