2016 Outer Banks Bride Magazine: Coastfully Wed

With a ceremony by the sound and country club reception at The Currituck Club to day-after photo session with ColemanShots by the ocean, Taylor and John's coastal affair took us on a journey across the Outer Banks. Oozing natural, garden glamour with splashes of green and gold, this wedding is the definition of lovely. Luckily, we have their wedding film by Swell Productions to allow us to relive the splendor on repeat.

View more from Taylor and John's wedding, receive Outer Banks wedding inspiration and receive our in-demand vendor directory by reserving your complimentary copy of the 2016 Outer Banks Bride Magazine.

From the Couple...

How The Met: "We met while working together at a sailing center in Corolla in the summer of 2011. John had moved from South Carolina and took a job as the sailing center's Site Manager and Taylor just graduated college in Virginia and took a Summer job there renting out water-sport equipment. We became friends through working together and made our romantic relationship official that September - we also decided to make  our move to the Outer Banks a permanent one!"

Why They Chose the Outer Banks: "We met here and live here!"

Wedding Inspiration: "We wanted our wedding to be everything that is simple, natural beauty - something we feel encompasses our relationship as a whole. The most important thing to us was to be able to get married in a place that had significant meaning to both of us, and that we could always come back to visit and even bring our keys one day. Our wedding quickly turned into an earthy, very natural, garden glam style."

Favorite Wedding Memory: "Our top favorite memory is our first look! Once we saw each other for the first time, every nerve we had went away and it was just the most emotional, flawless moment for us that we will never forget."

Katie and Cary's Story:

Wedding Date: May 31, 2014 Color Palette: Cobalt Blue, Yellow and White

How He Asked: Cary popped the question in one of the most intimate ways. In the comfort of their condo in Arlington, Virginia, he asked Katie to be his bride and she said, "Yes!" They traveled to Richmond the next day to see her Mom, who confessed she knew about her gorgeous ring and told Cary if he didn't propose by the next time they saw her she'd spill the beans. No pressure or anything!

Favorite Wedding Memories: "Doing a first look was probably the best idea we had," says Katie. "It calmed both of our nerves and seeing him just confirm we were making this life-long journey together and we couldn't have been happier."

Advice For Future Couples Tying The Knot: "As for as wedding planning goes, do what you want and not for other people - this will make your life easier when it comes to making decisions and keeping your budget in check!"

2015 Outer Banks Bride Magazine: Country Club Charm

Like many vacation spots, the Outer Banks is no stranger to summer romance. While vacationing with her family Lexie met Matt, who was working on the island (thanks to mutual friends!), and the rest was history. Embracing the Outer Banks community as their own, they planned a wedding day featuring brilliant shades of lavender and muted metallics at The Currituck Club. Recently featured in the 2015 Outer Banks Bride Magazine, Coastal Shots Photography captured all the charm and undeniable beauty of their big day!

Lexie and Matt's Story:

Wedding Date: August 30, 2014 Color Palette: Lavender and Grey

How He Asked: Matt planned his beach proposal to Lexie with the assistance of Ryan of Coastal Shots Photography, who captured the moment. After having lunch at Sea Ranch Resort's Beachside Bistro, Matt and Lexie headed toward the ocean where he asked her to be his wife. Like things could get any better, Matt had set up an airplane tour of the Outer Banks to celebrate their engagement.

Favorite Wedding Memories: From the first look moment and the ceremony to celebrating with family and friends, and being blessed with perfect weather - Lexie and Matt still feel joyfully overwhelmed simply thinking about how wonderful their big day was!

Advice For Future Couples Tying The Knot: "Without fail, things will go wrong. It's important to just laugh those things off and remember to enjoy the day," recalls the newlyweds. "The day goes by fast, so don't allow stress to interfere with you tow having the time of your life!"
