Colin + Caroline | Lexington, KY
Thanks to her family vacationing on the Outer Banks for years, the bride translated her inspiration from the ocean to the vibe of their wedding day. With shades of blue and green mimicking the colors of the ocean, Colin and Caroline's wedding vision was executed beautifully. To make it all the more memorable, dolphins danced in the waves as the bride walked down the aisle. Their laid back wedding was a perfect match for the Corolla event home’s relaxed pace and old-world charm.

Engagement Story: Colin and I both went to Georgetown College, although I only met him after he graduated. Colin was visiting a friend of his who happened to be dating my roommate. Sara, my roommate wanted to introduce us. We hit it off!
Colin proposed at Four Roses Distillery in Kentucky. Despite all of the obvious hints, I had no idea! The tour guide was clearly trying to clear the room after our tour because she knew he was about to ask. I didn't realize this though, so I headed on to the gift shop with the rest of the crowd. I had to be dragged back by a friend in our party. He was holding a bottle of the Single Barrel bourbon (the top shelf kind!) and I asked why he was holding it. He said, "It's ours" and then got down on one knee. I was so surprised, but it didn't take long for me to say yes!
Why they chose to wed on the Outer Banks: As a child, my family always vacationed in the Outer Banks. I have many memories of the aquariums, light houses, and boogie boarding. It was a special place for me, but it was actually Colin's idea. Rain or shine, we both knew we wanted to be married on the beach. When we found the home "Family Ties" in Corolla, we knew we'd found our spot! (Caroline)
The inspiration behind their wedding: I wanted to be married on the beach because I've always been so inspired by the ocean. I wanted every part of my wedding to flow with the water's natural beauty. I avoided getting stuck with two set wedding colors and instead searched for as many shades of blue and green as possible to reflect the colors of the ocean. I never really saw all of the pieces pulled together until the actual event- but it really came together perfectly!
