2015 Outer Banks Bride Magazine: Coastal Prep
When I decided to give each of our 17 real weddings in the 2015 Outer Banks Bride Magazine a wedding title, Katie and Cary's was by far the easiest. From the groom's polka-dot pocket square to the hand-lettered escort cards, their wedding is exactly what comes to mind when you think of Coastal Prep. With Duck Woods Country Club as their reception backdrop, and an all-star local vendor lineup, I promise you'll adore all of these moments captured by Courtney Hathaway Photography!
Katie and Cary's Story:
Wedding Date: May 31, 2014 Color Palette: Cobalt Blue, Yellow and White
How He Asked: Cary popped the question in one of the most intimate ways. In the comfort of their condo in Arlington, Virginia, he asked Katie to be his bride and she said, "Yes!" They traveled to Richmond the next day to see her Mom, who confessed she knew about her gorgeous ring and told Cary if he didn't propose by the next time they saw her she'd spill the beans. No pressure or anything!
Favorite Wedding Memories: "Doing a first look was probably the best idea we had," says Katie. "It calmed both of our nerves and seeing him just confirm we were making this life-long journey together and we couldn't have been happier."
Advice For Future Couples Tying The Knot: "As for as wedding planning goes, do what you want and not for other people - this will make your life easier when it comes to making decisions and keeping your budget in check!"
